Summit Police training activity on Wed 6/12 from 2PM to 7PM
Summit's Office of Emergency Management, in collaboration with Summit Public Schools, the Summit Police Department, the Summit Fire Department, E.M.S., and officials from Union County, the State of New Jersey, and federal agencies, will be conducting a large-scale training exercise on Wednesday, June 12, from 2 PM to 7 PM. This exercise will take place at various locations throughout Summit, including Summit High School, City Hall, the Summit Transfer Station, Fountain Baptist Church, and the Community Center, among others.
Residents are advised to be aware of road closures and increased activity among police, fire, and first aid squad personnel during the simulations. Notably, later in the afternoon between 3PM and 5PM Weaver Street will be fully closed, and portions of Kent Place Boulevard and Dennis Place will also be closed during the exercise.
These types of exercises are necessary to help prepare us in the event of an actual emergency and allow first responders the practice they need to keep us safe.
