DETAILS:
On June 10, 2024, at approximately 12:57 pm, Officers were dispatched to a major crash involving multiple vehicles at the intersection of SE 3rd Ave and S Buchanan. Upon their arrival, they learned a black Toyota Tundra and a gray Honda Passport were Northbound on S Buchanan. A green GMC Savana van was Eastbound and disregarded the red light. The Toyota and Honda both struck the passenger side of the GMC van. The collision caused the GMC van to flip over, leave the roadway, and strike a tree. The driver of the GMC van, Heather Renee Garcia, age 42, was killed. Her next of kin has been notified. The drivers of the other vehicles were uninjured. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigations Unit of the Amarillo Police Department.
