SANTA ANA, Calif. (June 11, 2024)—Santa Ana Police Detectives have arrested a 19-year-old male suspect for a fatal shooting that occurred on Monday, June 3, 2024.
On Monday, June 3, 2024, at 6:42 p.m., Santa Ana Police Communications received a report of a shooting in the area of 1100 S. Poplar Street. Officers responded to the scene and located a 19-year-old male, identified as Angel Junior Vuelvas of Santa Ana, lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Orange County Fire Authority provided immediate medical attention and transported Vuelvas to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The suspects had fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.
UPDATE:
SAPD Homicide Detectives assumed the investigation and identified one of the suspects as 19-year-old Gabriel Gutierrez of Santa Ana. On Friday, June 7, 2024, Gutierrez was arrested and booked at the Santa Ana Jail for Penal Code § 187(a) – Murder. He was arraigned on murder charges on June 11, 2024, in Orange County Superior Court.
