Wilmington Police have arrested three men on gun and drug charges.
Beginning in June, members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into illegal drug sales in the 600 block of North Tatnall Street. On June 11, at approximately 12:54 p.m., police conducted a motor vehicle stop in the 1300 block of Linden Street, and took 30-year-old William Cooke into custody without incident. Subsequently, police were in the 600 block of North Tatnall Street, when they observed 28-year-old Kyaire Jones, and 38-year-old Sharif Lowman. Police attempted to make contact with Jones and Lowman, at which time Jones fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, Jones was taken into custody without incident, and found to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber handgun. Lowman was taken into custody without incident, and found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun. Police then executed a search warrant in that block.
Through the course of the investigation, police recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun, 45.41 grams of crack cocaine, 69.11 grams of marijuana, .035 grams of heroin, 64 MDMA pills, and drug paraphernalia.
William Cooke has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity – Two Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity – Two Counts
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver – Two Counts
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $185,900 cash-only bail.
Kyaire Jones has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 3 Quantity
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $162,200 cash-only bail.
Sharif Lowman has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Conspiracy (Second Degree)
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $42,000 cash-only bail.
