Gloucester Township Police has responded to numerous complaints of juveniles and young adults firing gel projectiles from toy "Orbeez Guns" at innocent people, animals, and property. An Orbeez gun is designed to shoot gel projectiles, which are small, colorful, water-absorbing beads.
One of several incidents occurred on Gloucester Township Day where reports of juveniles shooting an Orbeez gun at the animals at Veterans Park. On Tuesday, GTPD Officers investigated an incident where juveniles were shooting an Orbeez gun at people from a moving vehicle. Five suspects, who were recording their actions onto social media, have been identified by GTPD Officers. Today, Wednesday at 3 PM, GTPD Officers received another call of two males and a female shooting an Orbeez gun at random people walking outside and is still being investigated.
Gloucester Township Police is encouraging parents and guardians to educate and speak with their children about the dangers associated with these types of toy guns. It is possible an individual may mistake the toy gun as a realistic threat, endangering the safety of your children or others. GTPD will also be identifying, arresting, and charging suspects who improperly utilized these toy guns to cause fear or panic to our Gloucester Township residents.
