INDIANAPOLIS-IMPD homicide detectives arrested a 17-year-old for his alleged role in the murder of 15-year-old Edwin Simon-Osorio in the 5400 block of E. 20th Street.
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, just before 2:00 a.m., IMPD East District officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 2100 block of N. Emerson Avenue. Officers arrived and located a male who sustained injuries consistent with a gunshot wound(s) inside of a vehicle. Indianapolis Emergency Medical Services (IEMS) arrived, and unfortunately, the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
IMPD homicide detectives responded to the scene to begin the investigation. Further investigation revealed the victim was shot in the 5400 block of E. 20th Street.
Detectives continued to investigate and, based on various evidence, including cooperative witnesses, were able to identify the 17-year-old juvenile as the alleged suspect. On Monday, June 10, 2024, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO) filed charges of murder against the suspect. The same day, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), located and arrested the suspect in the 4500 block of Lafayette Road.
A charge and arrest are merely an accusation. The suspect should be considered innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
