...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH MONDAY EVENING FOR MUCH OF WESTERN NM DUE TO VERY LOW HUMIDITY, GUSTY WINDS AND AN UNSTABLE ATMOSPHERE... .Stronger west to southwest winds will develop Monday with deep atmospheric mixing and an extremely dry airmass in place. The main threat area for the spread of fire will be west of the Continental Divide where ERC values will be highest and winds will be strongest. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch...which is in effect from Monday afternoon through Monday evening.
* AREA AND TIMING...Northwest Plateau (Zone 101), West Central Mountains (Zone 105) and the West Central Basin and Range (Zone 109).
* 20 FOOT WINDS...West to southwest at 15 to 25 mph with occasional gusts up to 35 mph by late afternoon.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...5 to 10 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTHWEST PLATEAU ... WEST CENTRAL MOUNTAINS ... WEST CENTRAL BASIN AND RANGE
