The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from noon today to 10 PM AKDT this evening.
* AFFECTED AREA...Holy Cross east to McGrath and Nikolai, and North Slopes of the Western Alaska Range.
* TIMING...From noon today to 10 PM AKDT this evening.
* LIGHTNING ACTIVITY LEVEL...4.
* WINDS...Southwest 5 to 10 mph.
* HUMIDITY...As low as 30 percent.
* TEMPERATURES...Highs in the lower 80s.
* IMPACTS...Frequent lightning can promote a few fire starts. Hot and dry conditions may lead to rapid spread of fires.
* AFFECTED AREAS: LOWER YUKON AND INNOKO VALLEYS ... NORTH SLOPES OF THE WESTERN ALASKA RANGE ... UPPER KUSKOKWIM VALLEY
