Copperopolis Fire

The Calaveras County Sheriff's Office is continuing to monitor the wildfire near Areo Road in Copperopolis. Here are the latest updates:
The wildfire has reached 1,000 acres. Highway 4 is closed between Little John Road and and Pool Station Road.
Evacuation Centers:

  • Valley Springs Veterans Hall (189 Pine Street, Valley Springs) for residents west of the Town Square
  • Domestic animals can be taken to the Veterans Hall
  • Livestock can be taken to the County Fairgrounds (101 Frogtown Road, Angels Camp)
The Red Cross is already en route to these evacuation centers to provide assistance.
A hotline number is being developed and will be provided soon for further information and assistance.
Please stay alert and follow any evacuation orders or safety instructions from emergency personnel. If you feel unsafe where you are, please do not delay in evacuating.
