The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JUNE 10, 2024: 
4:23 AM Officer Soto investigated a vehicle theft near Newark & Lafayette Boulevards.
 
6:29 AM Officer Williams investigated a vehicle theft near Wells Avenue & Walnut Street.
 
7:49 AM Officer S. Torres investigated a vehicle theft in the area of Joaquin Murieta Avenue & Cherry Street.
 
11:16 AM Community Services Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a vehicle theft near Charles Street & Elmwood Avenue.
 
12:32 PM CSO Lau was investigated a vehicle theft near Newpark Mall Road & Balentine Drive.
 
2:10 PM Officer S. Torres responded to Windermere Drive & Bosworth Court regarding a disturbance. A 58-year-old male from Newark was arrested for causing injuries to an elderly adult and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
2:56 PM Officer Frentescu was dispatched to Mowry School Road & Cedar Boulevard to investigate a vehicle burglary caused by window smash. The loss included various tools.
 
4:37 PM Officer Lara investigated a vehicle theft on the 36800 block of Cherry Street.
 
5:11 PM Officer Williams investigated an attempted vehicle burglary near Sandalwood Street & Fernwood Drive. The driver’s side window was punched, no property was reported missing.
 
5:13 PM Officer Frentescu investigated a vehicle burglary near Thornton Avenue & Cedar Boulevard. The passenger window was shattered with no loss reported.
 
7:57 PM Officer McCuin recovered a stolen vehicle near Inverness & Burning Tree Drives.
 
8:33 PM Officer Medina investigated a vehicle burglary near Lafayette Avenue & Newark Boulevard. Loss included multiple power tools.
 
TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 2024: 
2:10 PM Officer S. Torres was on routine patrol near Cedar Court and observed a vehicle with a shattered window. There was no known loss reported.
 
3:25 PM Officer Williams investigated a theft near Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard. A 42-year-old male from Newark was arrested for shoplifting and possession of narcotics. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
3:29 PM CSO Lau investigated a vehicle theft near Cedar Boulevard & Joaquin Murieta Avenue.
 
4:54 PM Officers investigated a grab-and-run theft of merchandise from a Newpark Mall store.
 
8:22 PM Officer Cervantes responded to Thornton Avenue & Elm Street on the report of a DUI driver. A 39-year-old male from Newark was arrested and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
11:51 PM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle theft near Mowry Avenue & Cedar Boulevard.
 
 
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 2024: 
7:02 AM Officer Lara investigated multiple vehicle burglaries in the area of Dumbarton Court & Jarvis Avenue. Prying tools were used to break into rear storage boxes. Loss included various industrial and power tools.
 
7:07 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred near Balentine Drive & Mowry School Road. The rear storage boxes were picked open resulting in various power tools being taken.
 
2:59 PM CSO Lau investigated a vehicle burglary near Newpark Mall Road & Balentine Drive. The rear window was shattered, and a backpack was taken.
 
5:02 PM Officer Stevenson responded to a call of a pedestrian creating a traffic hazard near Cherry Street & Mowry Avenue. A 52-year-old female from San Jose was arrested for assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest. She was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
5:22 PM Officer Lara responded to a call of a fight in progress near Bonnie Street & Wilma Avenue. A 20-year-old male from Union City and a 19-year-old male from Newark were arrested for battery and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:24 PM Officer McCuin investigated a vehicle burglary at Mowry Avenue & Cedar Boulevard. The window was smashed with current losses unknown.
 
11:45 PM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle burglary near Stevenson Boulevard & Balentine Drive. The loss is currently unknown.
 
THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 2024: 
11:57 AM Officer Piquette responded to a court order violation near Locust Street & Thornton Avenue. A 32-year-old male was arrested for the violation and transported to Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:06 PM Officer Medina investigated a hit and run collision at Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard.
 
8:56 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a vehicle burglary near Cedar Boulevard & South Magazine Road. The windows were smashed, resulting in a loss of specialized industrial equipment.
 
FRIDAY, JUNE 14, 2024: 
4:05 AM Officer Frentescu responded to Cedar Boulevard & Thornton Avenue for a vehicle collision. A 26-year-old male from Hayward was arrested for driving under the influence and outstanding warrants. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
9:26 PM Officers investigated a vehicle collision at Newark Boulevard & Thornton Avenue. A 23-year-old female from San Jose was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SATURDAY, JUNE 15, 2024: 
9:07 AM Officer Stevenson investigated a report of a suspicious person near Edgewater & Scarborough Drives. A 38-year-old male was arrested for multiple warrants and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
1:32 PM Officer Wiliams investigated a report of a suspicious person near Jarvis Avenue & Gateway Boulevard. A 27-year-old female from Newark was arrested for outstanding warrants, and a 28-year-old male from Hayward was arrested for theft and resisting arrest. The male was released on scene with a citation.
 
7:54 PM Officers were dispatched to Dumbarton Court & Jarvis Avenue for an assault. A 42-year-old male from Newark was arrested for aggravated assault and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:21 PM Officers responded to Thornton Ave & Cherry Street for a fight in progress. A 24-year-old female from Milpitas and a 27-year-old male from Pittsburg were arrested for battery and outstanding warrants, both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:42 PM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Cedar Boulevard & Mowry School Road. 
 
SUNDAY, JUNE 16, 2024: 
5:06 PM Officers investigated multiple vehicle thefts that occurred near Newpark Mall Road.
