Graffiti Suspects Arrested!

For the past several months, the City of Simi Valley has experienced an uptick in “gang graffiti” vandalisms, wherein the suspects have predominantly been targeting residential areas located on the west end of the city. Members of the Simi Valley Police Department’s Special Enforcement Team began putting together evidence related to these crimes and identified two suspects who are associated with a local criminal street gang.

On June 16, 2024, Gerardo Villalobos, 32 yrs., who is a resident of Simi Valley, was arrested in the 1400 block of Buster St. for his part in this series. He was taken to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department’s Pre-trial Detention Center where he was booked for Conspiracy. Today, a second suspect, 18 yrs., who is also a resident of Simi Valley, was stopped in the 2000 block Malcom St. and arrested for his part in this series. Although now an adult, this suspect was a juvenile at the time he committed this offense thus his name will not be released. He was taken to the Ventura County Juvenile Detention Center where he was lodged for Vandalism and Conspiracy.

The Simi Valley Police Department’s SET team is an entity within the Special Enforcement Bureau and was established as a crime suppression unit meant to address various crimes within the City. Those duties include the enforcement of lewd/dissolute conduct in public, Human Trafficking enforcement, ABC (Alcohol Beverage Control) enforcement investigations and assessment, the enforcement of street-level narcotics, warrant service on wanted individuals and gang enforcement.
