VEHICLE VS. PEDESTRIAN FATAL COLLISION
On June 18, 2024, at approximately 5:22 PM, the Simi Valley Police Department responded to the area of Ulysses Street and Socrates Avenue reference a vehicle vs. pedestrian traffic collision. The pedestrian was immediately transported to a local trauma center and unfortunately sustained injuries that proved to be fatal.
According to the initial information and preliminary investigation it appears the pedestrian was walking northbound Socrates Avenue crossing Ulysses Street in the crosswalk when the pedestrian was struck by a white BMW SUV turning from northbound Socrates, making a left onto westbound Ulysses Street.
There were no indications of impairment by either parties and the driver did not sustain any injuries. The pedestrian was later identified as 81-year-old Leopoldo Barajas of Simi Valley.
