* Flash Flood Warning for... Northwestern Los Alamos County in north central New Mexico... South Central Rio Arriba County in north central New Mexico... Northeastern Sandoval County in north central New Mexico...

* Until 845 AM MDT.

* At 451 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Espanola, Abiquiu, Santa Clara Pueblo, Chili, Buena Vista, Medanales, Hernandez and Chamita. This includes Highway 285 between Mile Markers 337 and 338. Drainages impacted include Santa Clara Creek, Gallina Creek, Rio del Oso, Abiquiu Creek, La Canada del Amagre, Arroyo del Placio, and Arroyo del Toro downstream to the Chama River and the Rio Grande.

* AFFECTED AREAS: LOS ALAMOS, NM ... RIO ARRIBA, NM ... SANDOVAL, NM

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
