Police Seek Help Identifying Armed Robbery Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé seeks the public’s assistance in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a robbery that occurred on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
At approximately 3:23 p.m., Police responded to the 500 block of Orange Street on a call of an armed robbery. The suspect attempted to snatch a woman’s purse. When the victim resisted, the suspect brandished a handgun. The victim then surrendered her purse and the suspect fled westbound on Orange Street towards East Orange.
The same suspect committed a second armed robbery of a female victim at 12:15 a.m. today, June 20, 2024, at Roseville Avenue near Orange Street. In this incident, the suspect was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and fled into East Orange, first using a bicycle, then on foot. The bicycle and weapon were recovered by Police.
Detectives investigating these incidents seek the public’s help in quickly identifying this suspect. He is described as 5’8” tall, thin-built African American with a dark complexion, a goatee, and dread locs or braids in his hair. He was wearing yellow-colored shirt with dinosaur logo on front, black sweatpants with stripes on the sides, and black and gray sneakers.
