Sheriff Richard J. Behnke is naming a suspect in the triple stabbing incident that occurred in Cass County last night. A three count, Assault with Intent to Murder warrant has been issued for John Henry Coons, 28yr old white male, from the Dowagiac area.
The victims in the incident, Charles Coulson, 73yr old male, is currently in critical condition at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. Shirley Coulson, 75yr old female, is in stable condition at Lakeland Hospital. Cody Coulson, 31yr old male, refused medical treatment.
Sheriff Behnke is asking for the publics help in locating Coons. Please do not attempt to apprehend Coons, as he is considered armed and dangerous.

Cass County Sheriff Richard J Behnke reports that on 6/20/24 at 10:40 pm, deputies of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office (MI) responded to a stabbing that occurred at a residence on the 32000 block of School St in Cass County’s Silver Creek Township. Upon arrival, deputies encountered three victims who had sustained multiple stab wounds from a single assailant.  The victims were a 73yr old male, a 75yr old female, and a 31yr old male.  SMCAS Ambulance transported the two older individuals to the hospital for treatment. The 31yr old victim refused medical treatment. The assailant fled the scene prior to deputies' arrival and is currently at large. The Sheriff’s Office believes this to be a focused incident and there is no threat the community. This is an ongoing investigation and the names of the parties involved will not be released at this time. The Pokagon Tribal Police and Dowagiac Police assisted the Sheriff's Office with the investigation.
