Market St. Corridor Reconstruction & Streetscape Improvements
Phase 1 and Phase 2 work continues, roadway and sidewalk demolition has begun and will continue for the coming weeks.
 
Throughout the week of June 24th, in the north lane of Market Street, Upstate Companies will continue site grading for sidewalk for the installation of the new sidewalks.  Curbing has been installed from Rowe Auto Service to Carpet Plus around the South Main Street intersection.  Sidewalks currently under construction are along the north side of Market Street, beginning at Sidney Federal Credit Union and ending at the James Georgeson Ave intersection in front of Rowe’s Auto Service.  Drainage structure and pipe installation will be continuing.  Conduit installation will be occurring for the relocation of the underground Verizon utilities.  Pedestrians are encouraged to avoid sidewalks under construction and use available, open sidewalks. Bicycle and vehicular traffic are to obey the recently added temporary traffic signals while there are active lane closures.  Work limits will be approximately between Chestnut Street Extension and James Georgeson Ave. 
 
All businesses will remain open.  Pedestrian and vehicular access to the businesses will be maintained at all times, as practicable. The public should continue to utilize the detour routes unless their destination is on Market Street.
