Flood Warning until 04:00PM Monday

...The National Weather Service in Duluth MN has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Minnesota... St. Louis River at Scanlon affecting northeastern Carlton County and southern St. Louis County.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...St. Louis River at Scanlon.

* WHEN...From this evening to Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 10.5 feet, Minor flooding occurs of low areas adjacent to the river near Cloquet city park and near Scanlon. At 13.0 feet, Water encroaches buildings near River Gate Rd.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 10.0 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage this evening to a crest of 10.7 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow evening. - Flood stage is 10.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 10.6 feet on 04/26/2008. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CARLTON, MN

Instructions:

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Expect high and swift water on the St. Louis River as it flows through Jay Cooke State Park. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. More information about river flooding is available at www.weather.gov/duluth.
