Flood Warning until 01:00PM Tuesday

...The National Weather Service in Duluth MN has issued a Flood Warning for the following rivers in Minnesota... St. Louis River at Scanlon affecting northeastern Carlton County and southern St. Louis County.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...St. Louis River at Scanlon.

* WHEN...At least until Wednesday. Additional precipitation is possible Monday evening which may lengthen the duration of this crest.

* IMPACTS...At 10.5 feet, Minor flooding occurs of low areas adjacent to the river near Cloquet city park and near Scanlon. Water encroaches buildings near River Gate Rd.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 AM CDT Sunday the stage was 10.7 feet. - Bankfull stage is 9.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 AM CDT Sunday was 10.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 11.0 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage early Tuesday morning. - Flood stage is 10.5 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 11.4 feet on 05/14/2022. - Flood safety information can be found at www.weather.gov/safety/flood.

* AFFECTED AREAS: CARLTON, MN

Caution is urged when walking near riverbanks. Expect high and swift water on the St. Louis River as it flows through Jay Cooke State Park. More information about river flooding is available at www.weather.gov/duluth. The next statement will be issued Monday afternoon at 400 PM CDT.
