Wilmington Police have arrested a man on gun charges.
On June 15, at approximately 1:40 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division were in the 700 block of East 7th Street, when they attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop for an equipment violation. At this time, the vehicle disregarded and fled the area. A short time later, the vehicle was located in the area of East 8th and Kirkwood Streets, where the driver fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, 44-year-old Andre McDougal was taken into custody without incident. Police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun and drug paraphernalia.
McDougal has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Possession of an Untraceable Firearm
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Resisting Arrest
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $89,700 cash-only bail.
