Robbery of Elderly Woman in Yucaipa Leads to the Arrest of Suspect and His Brother

SUSPECT(S): Glenn Hess, 41-year-old resident of Yucaipa
Lucas Hess, 42-year-old resident of Yuciapa
VICTIM(S): 78-year-old female resident of Yucaipa
SUMMARY: On Friday, June 21, 2024, at approximately 1:12 p.m., the 78-year-old victim parked her vehicle near the incident location after leaving a local bank and making a withdrawal. The victim exited her vehicle and was confronted by Glenn Hess. Hess threatened violent action against her if she did not give Hess her purse. Hess entered the victim's vehicle and grabbed the victim's purse. The victim tried to stop Hess from taking her purse, but Hess ripped it away. Hess entered his vehicle and fled the scene. Witnesses provided deputies with a cellphone recording of Hess' vehicle fleeing the area and the vehicle's license plate number.
Deputies conducted interviews, gathered information, and obtained surveillance footage of the incident. Deputies located Hess and the involved vehicle at his residence in Yucaipa. Deputies authored a search warrant for Hess' residence and detained Hess and his brother, Lucas Hess, for further investigation. During the search warrant service, deputies recovered some of the victim's stolen property along with three firearms, one being an illegal assault rifle, and a large amount of ammunition. Lucas Hess was found to be on California State Parole and had a felony no-bail parole violation warrant.
Glenn Hess, an ex-felon, was arrested for multiple felony charges, and Lucas Hess was arrested on the no-bail parole warrant. Both were booked at Central Detention Center in San Bernardino.
