Special Weather Statement until 08:45AM

At 729 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 39 miles west of Van Buren SP to near South Haven to near Comstock Northwest to near Charlotte. Movement was southeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Niles, Sturgis, Coldwater, Benton Harbor, St. Joseph, Hillsdale, Three Rivers, Dowagiac, Buchanan, Benton Heights, Fair Plain, Bronson, Bridgman, Jonesville, Constantine, Berrien Springs, Cassopolis, Watervliet, Quincy, and Union City. This includes the following highways... Interstate 196 between mile markers 0 and 7. Interstate 69 in Michigan between mile markers 1 and 21. Interstate 94 in Michigan between mile markers 7 and 42.

Instructions:

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until noon EDT for north central and northeastern Indiana...and southeastern and southwestern Michigan.
