Wilmington Police arrest woman in connection to shots fired incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a woman in connection to a shots fired incident.
On June 10, at approximately 3:18 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 1900 block of West 4th Street, in reference to a shots fired incident with no injuries. Following an investigation, members of the Gun Intelligence Unit identified 33-year-old Chie Smyre as a suspect.
On June 17, at approximately 2:11 p.m., police located Smyre in the 200 block of North Broom Street, where she was taken into custody without incident and found to be in possession of 1.7 grams of crack cocaine. Subsequently, police executed a search warrant in the 300 block of North Broom Street, and recovered a loaded .380 caliber handgun.
Smyre has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance
