Tuesday, June 25, 2024 - Fire danger has been raised to HIGH today. Temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s with Rh dropping below 30% this afternoon will allow rapid drying of fine fuels and leaf litter. Stage 1 campfire restrictions have been put into effect for northern NJ. Please exercise caution when using our parks and hiking trails. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stage 1 Restriction Fires directly on the ground will be prohibited unless in a prepared fire ring. Fires on mineral soil, which will not endanger the forest, may be permitted at the discretion of the Forest Firewarden issuing the permit. A prepared fire ring must be constructed of steel, stone, brick, or concrete with a gravel or masonry base.
