Deputy James Day charged 45-year-old William Charles Huskey of Asheville with Common Law Robbery and Simple Assault. Huskey received a $25,000 secured bond.
On June 13th Deputy Day responded to the 81-mile marker on I-40 for a report of a robbery. The victim reported his motorcycle came unstrapped and fell from his truck while traveling I-40. He left the scene to rent a trailer and when he returned, Huskey was in the process of loading his motorcycle onto a trailer and attempting to steal it. A confrontation ensued and Huskey assaulted the victim and fled with the stolen motorcycle. Deputies and Troopers with the NC State Highway Patrol located and arrested Huskey a short distance from the scene.
