Engage with Hoboken Police on pedestrian safety today
A reminder that the Hoboken Police Department will host a pop-up Pedestrian Safety Community Engagement & Listening Session TODAY, June 26, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Representatives of the HPD Transportation and Traffic Unit will be on hand to discuss various issues related to pedestrian and traffic safety in Hoboken. All residents are welcome to stop by for conversations, to ask questions, and present concerns. Feedback gathered at this event will help the HPD plan for future public safety improvement initiatives.
The pop-up tent will be on the northeast corner of Washington and Third Streets.
Propelify tickets still available; drone show to replace fireworks
Complimentary tickets for residents are still available for the annual Propelify Innovation Festival at Maxwell Place Park on Thursday, June 27, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The annual festival, organized by TechUnited:NJ attracts thousands of attendees for talks, cutting edge technology demos, startups, investor meetings, interactive experiences, tech meetups, mentorship, and more.
TechUnited:NJ is offering residents complimentary tickets while supplies last, in partnership with the City of Hoboken. Residents can use code HobokenPropels to get a free ticket at https://propelify.com/checkout-page/?wcf-default=1&coupon=HobokenPropels.
The fireworks display previously scheduled for 8:30 pm has been replaced with a drone show. Hoboken residents that cannot attend all day can register to attend happy hour beginning at 7:30 p.m. and watch the drone show.
This year's event is focused on entrepreneurs, investors, and innovators utilizing artificial intelligence. With a diverse audience including investors, startups, mentors, customers, tech giants, universities, and entrepreneurs, Propelify offers attendees exposure and connections vital for business growth.
The day will encompass talks from entrepreneurs, investors, and tech leaders; innovation demos and exhibitor booths; startup pitches; startup career development opportunities; one-on-one startup and founder meetings; music; food; drinks; fireworks; and more. The festival will also feature speakers from Wonder, Verizon, Samsung, Techstars, Comcast Business, BetterFutureLabs, Primary Ventures, Fast Company, and many other organizations.

City collects 166 guns during weekend buyback
More than 160 guns were collected by the Hoboken Police Department during the City of Hoboken's successful gun buyback program on Saturday, June 22.
The event at Police Headquarters was held in an effort to reduce the potential for gun violence in and around Hoboken. Residents were invited to voluntarily surrender up to three firearms, with no questions asked, in exchange for cash payments up to $350 using American Rescue Plan funding. The Hoboken Police Department collected a total of 166 firearms.

Apply to be a 2024 Green Business
The Hoboken Green Team today announced that the 2024 Green Business Application is now open.
Each year, the program distinguishes local businesses for their deliberate efforts to advance sustainability and responsibility for their customers, employees, and community. Program participants will join an inspiring and accomplished group of 28 Green Businesses of various industries, sizes, and impacts.
The deadline to submit the 2024 application is Sunday, September 15.
All interested businesses are encouraged to apply. Businesses can reference the matrix to determine the point values of their actions. Business with 20 points or above will be recognized as a Green Business.
