Alert
High heat and humidity briefly return as a disturbance off to our west introduces a severe thunderstorm risk later today. A pop-up storm or two is not ruled out this afternoon before the main risk settles in after 5 PM. There will be two rounds of activity to watch - the first of which arrives later this afternoon. Storm coverage will be rather limited with this batch of storms, with some areas even staying completely dry, but any storm that does develop can have locally gusty winds capable of damaging trees and power lines. After this passes, activity will briefly taper down before another, more widespread batch of thunderstorms arrives toward sunset. These storms can be gusty, especially during the evening before trending less severe overnight. Storms taper down to just a few showers overnight before fully ending by daybreak.
