PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: City of North Mankato Update Regarding Flood Emergency

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:

On Monday, June 24th, the City of North Mankato declared a flood emergency and out of an abundance of caution, constructed an earth wall levee at the Lookout Drive and Lee Boulevard Intersection. The levee stands at a height of 34.6 ft. Currently the river level is at 29.5 ft and predicted to subside in the coming days.

City staff believe the threat of the river level has decreased and are making plans to begin deconstruction of the earth wall levee. More information regarding the levee removal will be provided as it becomes available.

At this time, the Lookout Dr. and Lee Blvd. intersection remains closed. Please see the attached map to view closed roads and detour routes. Please avoid travel in this area and between upper and lower North Mankato unless necessary.

A Storm Damage & Debris Drop-Off site at the Public Works Yard will be available for North Mankato residents to dispose of flood-damaged personal property and debris beginning Friday, June 28th through Sunday, June 30th. Please see the attached flier for more details.

To report issues or concerns related to the flood emergency, please use the form “Report Storm Damage or Concerns” on our website: www.northmankato.com/report-storm-damage. Issues may also be reported by leaving a voicemail message at our emergency hotline: 507-625-9131.
