PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: City of North Mankato Begins Deconstruction of Earth Wall Levee
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT:
As of 7:00 a.m. this morning, Thursday, June 27th, crews have begun deconstruction of the earth wall levee. City staff have determined the threat of the river level has decreased and as the level continues to subside, the precautionary levee is no longer needed. Although there is potential rain forecasted, the amount of rainfall predicted will not impact the levee and require it to remain. Additionally, the potential build-up of debris at area bridges is being monitored by appropriate county and state agencies.
The length of the deconstruction process is unknown at this time, please watch for further updates announcing when the removal is complete, and when the intersection and closed routes will be re-opened. Please stay off the levee and keep away from the work area. Thank you for your cooperation.
A Storm Damage & Debris Drop-Off site at the Public Works Yard will be available for North Mankato residents to dispose of flood-damaged personal property and debris beginning Friday, June 28th through Sunday, June 30th. Please see the attached flier for more details.
