TREE INVENTORY ANNOUNCEMENT

Dear Neighbors,

The Fair Haven Shade Tree Commission (STC) is thrilled to announce the Borough of Fair Haven has contracted with ArborPro, Inc. to conduct a comprehensive tree inventory throughout our Borough! Starting on or around July 8, 2024, ArborPro's team of certified arborists will be diligently working to document and assess the public trees within our community. This project is funded by a grant from the NJ Urban and Community Forestry (NJUCF), a division of the NJ Department of Environmental Protection, and has no impact on the Borough budget. Arbor Pro expects to be assessing trees for approximately 2 weeks and you will see them in our parks and walking the streets in the Borough identifying, measuring, and assessing the health and maintenance needs of our public trees.

Conducting a tree inventory is a necessary step for the Borough to maintain accreditation with NJUCF. This accreditation is very important as it is a requirement for many programs the Borough enjoys, it opens up many additional grant opportunities, and provides liability protection for the Borough under the New Jersey Shade Tree and Community Forestry Assistance Act.

Beyond that, why is this important?

Preserving Our Green Spaces:  Understanding the health, species diversity, and distribution of our trees helps us develop effective conservation and management strategies to safeguard our greenery.

Enhancing Urban Forestry: With precise data on our trees, we can make informed decisions regarding planting, maintenance, and urban planning, ensuring a thriving urban forest for generations to come.

Promoting Community Well-Being: Trees provide numerous benefits, from purifying air to reducing stress. By investing in their care, we're investing in the health and well-being of everyone in our Borough.

Contact Information: For any inquiries or concerns regarding the tree inventory project, please reach out to the STC Secretary, Krystie Larsen at [email protected] or to the STC Tree Inventory Project Manager, Jill Sullivan at [email protected].

Every tree counts in this endeavor to foster a greener, healthier, and more vibrant community for all!

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Fair Haven Shade Tree Commission
