One Week Until July 4th!
The July 4th, 2024, holiday is only one week away and the Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind everyone that unlawful fireworks displays during the holiday period pose a threat to the health and safety of our community. In an effort to reduce potential injuries and property damage, the Simi Valley Police Department requests all residents to comply with local laws and ordinances prohibiting the possession and discharge of fireworks within the City. Consequently, during the days leading up to the 4th of July holiday, the Simi Valley Police Department will be aggressively enforcing laws prohibiting the possession and discharge of fireworks.
The 4th of July holiday results in a significantly higher call volume to the 9-1-1 Communications Center each year. Therefore, residents are asked to limit fireworks related calls to the Communications Center, except in the following circumstances:
- For injury, call 9-1-1
- For fire, call 9-1-1
- For knowledge of exact location of where fireworks are actively being set off, call the non-emergency line at (805) 583-6950
Community members who have knowledge of any pre-planned unlawful fireworks displays may report the information to the Police Department by calling 805-583-6212. This is a recorded line only and will not be answered by a live person. Callers can anonymously leave a message or send the information via email to [email protected]. Officers will review the information and make contact with potential violators, educating them on the fire dangers and legal consequences of discharging illegal fireworks in the City. Additional steps will also be taken to monitor these areas for violations with an emphasis on prosecution. Please make every effort to provide the exact location of the fireworks being set off.
The Simi Valley Police Department would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July.
