This 4th of July, let's be mindful of our pets and veterans. Fireworks can cause panic in animals often leading them to run away from home and also trigger distressing memories for war veterans with PTSD. Also, remember that amateur fireworks are illegal in the City of Santa Clara.
Please do not call 911 to report fireworks. The 4th of July and the days leading up to it are among the busiest times for 911 centers, which must prioritize life threatening emergencies. To report fireworks, and if you have an exact location, call 408-615-5580. Calls will be taken in the order they are received. Always call 911 in a life threatening emergency.
