Residents are advised the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for our area. The highest probability for severe thunderstorms is from 2:00pm to 10:00 pm today/tonight. The main threat is potentially damaging wind gusts. According to the NWS, hail and an isolated tornado are possible. A watch is intended to provide enough lead time for people to have a plan in case threats increase. A watch can quickly be upgraded to a warning, make sure to monitor local weather conditions.
If you lose power, notice must be given directly to ConEdison. You may report and monitor power outages through their mobile app, online, or by phone 1-800-752-6633. If you see downed electrical wires, do not go near them. Assume all downed wires are electrified. Report any downed wires to ConEdison.
