At approximately 2:55 A.M. on June 30, 2024, patrol deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters Station responded to a reported shooting incident in the 1000-block of Collins Street located in the unincorporated community of El Rio. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 23-year-old male adult suffering from a gunshot wound. The deputies provided immediate aid to the victim until relieved by medical personnel. The victim was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The incident is currently under thorough investigation by the Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or possesses any information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
