On the afternoon of Sunday, June 30th, around 5pm, deputies from the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check of an individual in a wooded area on North Fork River Dr. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced deceased upon arrival by deputies on scene. An investigation is being conducted at this time to determine the cause of death. McDowell County EMS and the Hankins North Fork Fire Department also responded to the incident. No further information will be released at this time.
