The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JUNE 24, 2024: 

3:14 PM Officer Taylor responded to a call of a suspicious person near Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard. A 32-year-old male was arrested for child abuse, battery on a peace officer and violating the terms of his probation. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
TUESDAY, JUNE 25, 2024: 

12:50 AM Officer Cervantes was dispatched to a report of an assault near Thornton Avenue & Mulberry Street. A 51-year-old male was arrested and transported to Santa Jail for battery.
 
3:48 AM Officer Orozco investigated a vehicle theft at Bridgepointe Drive & Cedar Boulevard.
 
9:26 AM Officers recovered a stolen vehicle near Joaquin Murieta Avenue & Cherry Street.
 
2:35 PM Officer Losier investigated a vehicle theft in the area of Newpark Mall Road.
 
6:43 PM Officer Kim handled the report of a license plate theft that occurred near Sea Turtle Avenue & Dragonfly Street.
 
8:35 PM Officers investigated multiple vehicle burglaries occurring on the 5600 block of Mowry Avenue. Windows were smashed and loss included backpacks, wallets, and clothing.
 
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 26, 2024: 

2:38 AM Officers responded to Magnolia Street & Rich Avenue for a report of a trespasser on scene and recovered a stolen vehicle.
 
5:28 AM Officer Lor investigated the report of a vehicle theft from Surf Way & Bay Breeze Street. The vehicle was recovered by a neighboring agency.
 
8:48 AM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to Cedar Boulevard & Mowry Avenue on the report of a vehicle theft.
 
7:55 PM Community Services Officer (CSO) Mora was dispatched to Newpark Mall Road & Alpenrose Court on the report of multiple vehicle burglaries. The driver’s side windows were shattered with the reported loss of a laptop.
 
THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2024: 
 
Officers investigated four vehicle thefts during the morning hours. One occurred near Central Ave and the rest occurred near Jarvis Avenue.  
 
8:49 AM Officer Kim arrived at Stevenson Boulevard & Balentine Drive on the report of a vehicle burglary. The rear window was shattered and a reported loss of a laptop.
 
11:34 AM Officer Lara was dispatched to Cherry Street & Rochelle Avenue on the report of a vehicle burglary. The method of entry was unknown, loss included multiple residential letters and packages.  
 
9:59 PM Officer Lor conducted a traffic stop at Cedar Boulevard & Smith Avenue a 51-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics and release on scene with a citation.
 
11:33 PM CSO Mora investigated a vehicle burglary near Newpark Mall & North Magazine Roads. The driver’s side window was shattered with no reported loss.
 
FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 2024: 

1:42 AM Officers investigated a collision at Ruschin & Dalewood Drives. A 49-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:17 AM Officer Lara was dispatched to Baine Avenue & Magnolia Street for a vehicle burglary. Upon investigation, the rear window was shattered and no known loss was reported.
 
9:03 AM Officer Frentescu was dispatched to Balentine Drive & Cedar Boulevard and investigated a vehicle theft.
 
9:09 AM Officer Kim investigated a catalytic converter theft near Thornton Avenue & Poplar Street.
 
12:15 PM Officer Dale handled the report of a vehicle theft near Mayhews Landing Road & Thornton Avenue.
 
4:33 PM Officer Kim conducted a pedestrian stop near Balentine Drive & Newpark Mall Road. A 42-year-old male was arrested for narcotics and an active warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SATURDAY, JUNE 29, 2024: 

2:58 AM Officers responded to a disturbance near Castillon & Tourraine Drives. A 42-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
3:28 AM Officers were dispatched to multiple vehicle burglaries near Cherry Street & Dairy Avenue.
 
1:15 PM Officer Taylor investigated the theft of a vehicle reported near Alpenrose Court & Mowry Avenue.
 
2:10 PM Officer Williams was dispatched to Jarvis Avenue & Newark Boulevard on the report of a disturbance. A 42-year-old male was arrested for shoplifting and possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
SUNDAY, JUNE 30, 2024: 

1:45 AM Officer C. Torres conducted a traffic stop at Cedar Boulevard & Milani Avenue. A 21-year-old male was arrested for possession of a switchblade, driving under the influence, and transported Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
4:37 PM Officer Williams performed a traffic stop near Cedar Court & Cedar Boulevard on a vehicle with expired registration. A 24-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant and transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
 
9:45 PM CSO Vuong responded to the Elmwood Correctional Facility for a subject with an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
