4TH OF JULY:
Novato's Annual 4th of July Parade returns Today, July 4^th, 2024 at 10am on Grant Ave. The parade will begin on Grant Ave at Reichert Ave and end at 7th St and Grant Ave. Some or all of following streets will be closed to all traffic, from approximately 8am to 1pm on Thursday, July 4, 2024:

• Grant Ave from Railroad Ave to 7th St
• Vallejo Ave from Redwood Blvd to Machin Ave
• Machin Ave from Vallejo Ave to Sweetser Ave
• Sweetser Ave from Machin Ave to Reichert Ave
• Reichert Ave from DeLong Ave to Sweetser Ave
• Railroad Ave at Olive Ave 
• Scott Ct
• Sherman Ave
• Blodget Ln

If you are not planning to attend the parade, please avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible. Traffic will be diverted from Redwood Blvd onto DeLong Ave and Vallejo Ave.

FIRST FRIDAYS: 
On Friday (7/5), Grant Ave will be closed for First Fridays from 4PM - 12AM. The closure will affect Grant Ave between Machin Ave and Reichert Ave (see map). The roadway will be closed to all vehicular traffic. Gates will close on Grant Ave at 5PM. Permanent signage has been installed in the area to notify the community of closure information. 
 
Join businesses downtown for First Fridays, a closed streets program designed to create a safe, pedestrian and bicycle-friendly shopping, dining, and recreation environment on Grant Avenue, between Machin and Reichert Avenues.

Parking in and around the Downtown area is available on adjacent streets and public parking lots. The Novato Police Department will be working these events to reasonably accommodate any traffic related issues. Please use alternative routes when necessary. We request those who cannot avoid the area to allow plenty of time for travel.
