LOCATION: 19000 block of Tecumseh Road, Apple Valley
VICTIM(S): 34-year-old male of Apple Valley
SUSPECT(S): 15-year-old male juvenile of Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call at approximately 3:01 am on Thursday, July 4, 2024, from a resident on Tecumseh Road. The resident was reporting two of his vehicles had been taken from in front of his residence. The caller believed the suspects were in the area and were doing donuts with the vehicles near his residence.
Deputies responded to the area and found both vehicles abandoned, and one had damage from hitting a parked vehicle.Through investigation, deputies learned a subject got out each of the two stolen vehicles and both got into a green Kia Soul which was parked in the area.
While responding to the call, Deputy W. Ray located a green Kia Soul leaving the area. Deputy Ray attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle however the driver failed to stop. Deputies pursued the vehicle throughout Apple Valley, at times reaching speeds in excess of 90 mph, for approximately 11 minutes. Deputies successfully deployed spike strips, which aided in the termination of the pursuit.
Once the vehicle stopped, both driver and passenger fled the scene on foot. Deputies apprehended the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as a 15-year-old male resident of Apple Valley.
The juvenile was arrested and transported to the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center, where he was booked in for vehicle theft and failure to yield.
