Rancho Cucamonga Deputies Pursue Carjacking Suspect and Arrest Him After Traffic Collision Near the 210 Freeway

DATE/TIME: Thursday, July 4, 2024 at 2:01 p.m.

INCIDENT: C.V.C. 2800.2 – Felony Failure to Yield

LOCATION: Haven Avenue and eastbound 210 Freeway Off-Ramp, Rancho Cucamonga.

SUSPECT: Anthony Ignacio, 30-year-old male, resident of Jurupa Valley

SUMMARY:
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department located a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Haven Avenue and Civic Center Drive. The vehicle was stolen minutes earlier in the city of Ontario and was taken during a violent carjacking.

When deputies tried to stop the car, the driver later identified as Anthony Ignacio, fled. Ignacio led deputies on a 4-mile pursuit through Rancho Cucamonga. The pursuit terminated when Ignacio ran a red light and collided with a civilian motorist on Haven Avenue and the 210 Freeway. Ignacio ran from the stolen vehicle and attempted to carjack another driver. Deputies intervened and arrested Ignacio before he was able to enter the second vehicle. The driver of the vehicle Ignacio hit was treated by medical personnel while onscene and released.

During the course of their investigation, deputies learned Ignacio is on Post Release Community Supervision for a prior conviction of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Ignacio was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center on multiple felony charges: attempted carjacking, evading, hit and run, and resisting an executive officer. His bail is set at $100,000 and his court date is set for July 8, 2024, in the Rancho Cucamonga Superior Court.
