Fresno Woman Arrested when She Enters Store and Threatens Employees with Broken Glass Bottle

INCIDENT: PC 664/211 Attempted Robbery, PC 664/459 Attempted Burglary, PC 422(a) Criminal Threats
LOCATION: 25000 Block of Barton Road, Loma Linda
SUSPECT(S): Joanna Lea Giffen, 31-year-old Resident of Fresno
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Thursday, July 4, 2024, at approximately 2:38 P.M., deputies responded to the 25000 Block of Barton Road in Loma Linda reference a robbery call. Joanna Lea Giffen walked into a local grocery store and broke a glass bottle on the ground and used it to threaten employees into giving her money from the register.
Deputy Amanda Simonsen arrived at the grocery store and apprehended Giffen. Giffen was found to be on felony formal probation out of Los Angeles County. Giffen was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center Jail for PC 664/211 Attempted Robbery,
PC 664/459 Attempted Burglary, and PC 422(a) Criminal Threats.
Additionally, the Los Angeles County Probation was contacted and they placed a no bail hold on Giffen.
