On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 12:11 a.m., the Rialto Police Department Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a person known to the caller attempting to break down a door at their home. The caller reported the involved subject was completely nude and under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. While enroute to the caller’s house, officers requested the response of Rialto Fire Department Paramedics.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department is assisting Rialto P.D. with an Arrest Related Death Investigation.
On Saturday, July 6, 2024, at approximately 12:11 a.m., the Rialto Police Department Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call regarding a person known to the caller attempting to break down a door at their home. The caller reported the involved subject was completely nude and under the influence of alcohol and narcotics. While enroute to the caller’s house, officers requested the response of Rialto Fire Department Paramedics.
When officers arrived, they located the male inside the home, lying on the floor face down, partially nude, wearing only shorts below his buttocks. When officers attempted to detain the subject, he was uncooperative and incoherently, groaning loudly at the officers. Within approximately two minutes of assessing his condition and trying to detain him, the subject experienced a medical emergency, lost consciousness, and stopped breathing. Officers immediately began life-saving measures, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, utilized an automated external defibrillator, and administered Naloxone. Officers continued life-saving measures until relieved by Rialto Fire Department Paramedics, who transported the subject to a local hospital.
The subject was later pronounced deceased at 1:16 a.m. Within department protocols and state reporting requirements, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Specialized Investigations Division responded to lead an independent investigation into the arrest-related death.
