City of Clute - Tropical Storm Beryl Update - July 7, 2024 - 12:00pm
Dear Clute residents,
We are vigilantly tracking the development of Tropical Storm Beryl. The National Weather Service has declared a Hurricane Warning for Brazoria County. This warning signifies that hurricane conditions are anticipated within the designated area. It is crucial that all measures to safeguard lives and property be completed promptly.
As per the latest data from the National Weather Service, Beryl is situated approximately 195 miles SE of Matagorda, Tx, carrying sustained winds of 65mph. The storm is expected to intensify until it makes landfall.
While Beryl is projected to hit Matagorda County as a Category 1 hurricane, we urge everyone to prepare for a Category 2 storm, which is expected to strike early tomorrow morning.
City Services and Emergency Response In light of the impending storm, all non-essential services in the city, including trash service, will be closed. Please note that once winds reach 50mph, emergency response may not be possible due to safety concerns for our personnel.
Preparation is Essential We urge residents to complete any necessary tasks or errands as soon as possible this afternoon as conditions are expected to deteriorate into the evening: • Secure any loose items on your property. • Ensure your vehicles have a full tank of gas. • Make sure you have sufficient supplies at home.
Stay Updated We will continue to provide updates on our social media channels and the city website. We also recommend everyone to keep an eye on the Brazoria County Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service for additional updates.
Stay safe, Clute! We are in this together.
