City of Clute - Beryl Update - July 7, 2024 - 6:30pm

Dear Clute residents,

We are continuing to monitor the development of Tropical Storm Beryl and preparing for landfall early tomorrow morning, most likely around 4am. The National Weather Service has declared a Hurricane Warning for Brazoria County. This warning signifies that hurricane conditions are anticipated within the designated area. It is crucial that all measures to safeguard lives and property be completed promptly.

As per the latest data from the National Weather Service, Beryl is situated approximately 130 miles SSE of Matagorda, Tx, carrying sustained winds of 65mph. The storm is expected to intensify until it makes landfall.

While Beryl is projected to make landfall as a Category 1 hurricane, we urge everyone to prepare for a Category 2 storm, which is expected to strike early tomorrow morning.

City Services and Emergency Response In light of the impending storm, all non-essential services in the city, including trash service, will be closed. Please note that once winds reach 50mph, emergency response may not be possible due to safety concerns for our personnel.

Preparation / Safety Public Information Release We wish to inform the residents of Clute that preparations for the impending storm should now be complete. As per the latest weather forecasts, conditions are expected to deteriorate throughout the night. For everyone’s safety, we strongly urge all citizens to stay off the roads during the storm.

Please note that emergency personnel will not be able to respond to calls while wind speeds are above 50mph. Your understanding and cooperation are greatly appreciated as we navigate through this weather event together.

Stay Updated We will continue to provide updates on our social media channels and the city website. We also recommend everyone to keep an eye on the Brazoria County Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service for additional updates.

Stay safe, Clute! We are in this together.
