OPD Seeks Assistance in Identifying Victims of Assault and Robbery

The Oakland Police Department (OPD) is seeking assistance from the community to identify the victims involved in an assault and robbery that occurred around 6:30 p.m. on July 5, 2024, in the 5500 block of San Pablo Avenue.
An off-duty OPD officer and other witnesses saw the crime and followed the unknown suspect, who dropped the victims’ belongings. The off-duty officer helped in recovering and returning the stolen items to the victims, who immediately left the area.
On-duty officers were dispatched to the 5600 block of San Pablo Avenue, where witnesses directed them to the suspect, an adult Oakland resident, who was quickly and safely taken into custody.
During the investigation, OPD learned that this was the second of four robberies committed by the suspect in the area.
