A man was arrested for retail theft from Lululemon
 
San Mateo, CA – On July 8, 2024, Carlos Palafox was arrested after he stole over $5,000 worth of clothing items from Lululemon, located at the Hillsdale Shopping Center. 
 
Palafox was under investigation for seven previous thefts at the same Lululemon.            
 
San Mateo Police Department received a report of a theft that just occurred on July 8, 2024, just before 8:00 p.m.  Employees at Lululemon, located at the Hillsdale Shopping Center, called police after an adult male entered the store, filled a bag with multiple pairs of clothing items and ran from the store without paying for the items.  The male suspect, Carlos Palafox, was recognized by the store employees due to Palafox stealing from the store on seven previous occasions beginning in February.
 
Lululemon employees were able to give a good description of Palafox and what direction he ran from the store as officers were driving to the scene of the crime.  Palafox was located by SMPD officers two blocks from Lululemon.  Palafox tried to walk away from officers, however he was safely detained.  Officers located the bag Palafox had with him during the crime and that bag was filled with the stolen clothing items.  The stolen items, valued at $5,600, were later returned to Lululemon. 
 
Palafox was arrested for eight counts of second-degree burglary and eight counts of felony organized retail theft.  Palafox was transported and booked into San Mateo County Jail.          
 
We need the community’s support in reporting crimes and being a good witness.  If you witness a crime, contact police immediately.  Try to remain as calm as possible and do your best to answer questions on the phone.  Remember details such as the suspect’s appearance, clothing, any distinguishing features, and which direction they flee. Once the police arrive at the scene, cooperate fully, and provide the officers with all the information you have.  Your observations can greatly assist law enforcement in their investigation.
