Update (Investigation – West 2nd and North Rodney Streets):

Wilmington Police are investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on July 4.
On July 4, at approximately 5:01 p.m., Wilmington Police responded to the area of West 2nd and North Rodney Streets, in reference to a motor vehicle collision involving a vehicle and a motorcycle.
Upon arrival, police located the driver of the motorcycle – 37-year-old Luis Jimenez Jr. – who was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries on July 6.
The driver of the other vehicle remained on scene, and the investigation was assigned to Master Corporal Marc Martinez of the WPD Special Operations Division/Traffic Unit.
The investigation found that the motorcycle disregarded a red traffic signal, causing the collision.
