Lt. Detective Jesse Hicks charged 29-year-old Matthew Dylan Sowers of Marion with Felony Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury. Sowers received a $2,500 secured bond.
On April 18th Deputies responded to a residence in Marion for a report of an assault. They determined Sowers had assaulted his 79-year-old neighbor by throwing him to the ground. Sowers was initially charged with misdemeanor assault, but Lt. Hicks later learned the victim suffered more serious injuries and upgraded the charges.
