INCIDENT: Driving Under the Influence of an Alcoholic Beverage - CVC 23152(b) / Traffic Pursuit CVC 2800.2(a).
LOCATION: 71 Freeway / Pine Avenue, Chino Hills
SUSPECT(S): Jonathan Valcarcel, 28-year-old resident of Chino Hills
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On July 7, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Deputy Duran from the Chino Hills Police Station observed a black Chevrolet Silverado driving southbound on the 71 Freeway. The vehicle, driven by Jonathan Valcarcel, exited at Pine Avenue and collided into the center median.
Deputy Duran witnessed the collision and activated the patrol unit’s overhead emergency lights. Valcarcel initially pulled over then fled, leading Deputy Duran on a vehicle pursuit. Valcarcel eventually pulled into a parking lot in the 5700 block of Park Drive and was detained. During the investigation, Valcarcel showed signs of being under the influence.
Valcarcel was arrested and booked at West Valley Detention Center for evading a Peace Officer and driving under the influence of alcoholic. Valcarcel posted bail and was released with a date to appear in court.
