Plainfield Police: Heat Wave Tips and Cooling Center
The Plainfield Police would like to advise residents the below cooling center is open today July 10th to Friday July 12th from 10:00 am to 5:00pm.
- 400 East Front Street Plainfield Senior Center
- Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks.
- Stay Indoors: If possible, stay in an air-conditioned place.
- Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
- Use Fans and Cool Cloths: Use fans to circulate air and damp cloths to cool down your skin.
- Cold Showers: Take cool showers or baths to lower your body temperature.
- Wear Light Clothing: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing. A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses can provide additional protection from the sun.
- Check on Vulnerable Neighbors: Keep an eye on elderly neighbors, young children, and those with health conditions, as they are more vulnerable to heat.
- In case of a medical emergency due to heat exposure, call 911 immediately.
