The Plainfield Police would like to advise residents the below cooling center is open today July 10th to Friday July 12th from 10:00 am to 5:00pm.

  • 400 East Front Street Plainfield Senior Center
Some tips to stay cool this summer are
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeinated drinks.
  • Stay Indoors: If possible, stay in an air-conditioned place.
  • Limit Outdoor Activities: Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
  • Use Fans and Cool Cloths: Use fans to circulate air and damp cloths to cool down your skin.
  • Cold Showers: Take cool showers or baths to lower your body temperature.
  • Wear Light Clothing: Wear lightweight, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing. A wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses can provide additional protection from the sun.
  • Check on Vulnerable Neighbors: Keep an eye on elderly neighbors, young children, and those with health conditions, as they are more vulnerable to heat.
  • In case of a medical emergency due to heat exposure, call 911 immediately.
By taking these precautions, we can ensure the safety and well-being of our community during these challenging weather conditions. Stay cool and stay safe.
