Green Bay Police Investigate Crash on S Ashland Ave Railroad Tracks; One Person Transported for Injuries
The Green Bay Police Department is reminding drivers of the importance of railroad safety and obeying all warning signs and signals on active tracks following a crash involving an SUV.
Officers were dispatched on Thursday, July 11, 2024, to the 1400 block of S Ashland Ave around 7:45 a.m. for an SUV that was struck by a passing train. The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital to be seen for reported non-life-threatening injuries.
Our initial investigation indicates that the SUV had failed to yield to the passing train and had crossed onto the tracks when it was struck. There were no injuries reported by the crew aboard the train.
There are no street closures.
The investigation is ongoing.
