Suspect Arrested in Child Sexual Assault Case

Officers arrested a suspect who is believed to have assaulted a number of young victims and seek the public’s help in identifying additional victims.

Berkeley Police Youth Services Detectives have been actively investigating a case involving some of our Community's most vulnerable members. After receiving information last week from several parents who brought forward concerns surrounding their children's interactions with the suspect, Berkeley Police Detectives immediately initiated an investigation in an effort to prevent any further victimization, ultimately leading to the successful arrest of the suspect Tyler Livingston (25-years-old, white male).

Today, June 11th, our Detectives conducted a search and arrest warrant at an address associated with Livingston. During which, officers conducted an operation to apprehend Livingston, who had an active outstanding warrant for sexual assault. Thankfully, Livingston was taken into custody without further incident by Berkeley Police in Emeryville.

While the investigation into these cases is still ongoing, we recognize that there may be more victims that have not yet come forward. Livingston has worked as a swim instructor in the Bay Area over the past few years and may have spent some time as a substitute teacher. BPD wants victims and their families to know that they are not alone and encourage them to contact police.

While Livingston is now in custody, our work is not done. We urge any potential victims who have not yet come forward to contact the Berkeley Police Department Youth Services Unit at (510) 981-5715. Your information could be crucial to our ongoing investigation.

If you know of someone who may have been affected by Livingston, we encourage you to contact our Detectives as well. We understand that crimes of this nature can have a lasting impact on the victims, their families, and our Community. We are committed to completing these investigations thoroughly and have additional resources available to provide emotional support or connect you with counselors specializing in traumatic experiences.
